Adam Sanzenbacher

GAPP Artist

Overview

In November of 2024, GAPP Artist in Residence Adam Sanzenbacher explored the intersection of technology, glass art, engineering and problem solving. A member of the xy&z art collective and Toledo native, Sanzenbacher designs and works in mixed media, using a wide range of materials to explore human behavior as we interact with science and technology.

During his GAPP residency, Sanzenbacher expanded the possibilities of glass as a medium by merging traditional glassmaking techniques with digital technology. Using CAD software and 3D printing he developed interchangeable molds, creating complex works with modular elements. Innovative and precise, this approach pushed the boundaries of glass art and highlighted the creative power of technology partnered with time-honored art forms.

GAPP connects artists, audiences and the art of glass through direct engagement and open studio time. As an Artist in Residence, Sanzenbacher invited visitors to join him in his creative journey and to experience the evolution of ideas in real time — bridging contemporary art, craft and design within one of the country’s premier glass programs.
