Sheree Hovsepian

GAPP Artist

Overview

Born in Iran, artist Sheree Hovsepian immigrated to the U.S. when she was just two years old. She grew up in Toledo, where she was a frequent visitor to the Toledo Museum of Art and attended TMA art classes. A graduate of the University of Toledo, she received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Currently based in New York City, her work encompasses photography, collage, drawing and sculpture, and is known for her exploration of the human form and concepts of identity.

As GAPP Artist in Residence in November of 2025, Hovsepian relished the opportunity to explore a new medium and its potential for future creative pursuits. Working with the glass studio team, she experimented with glass as an element within her collage works before pivoting to sculptural pieces — exemplifying how GAPP residencies provide artists with the spaces, materials and technical support necessary for creative risk-taking and experimentation.

GAPP connects artists, audiences and the art of glass through direct engagement and open studio time. Hovsepian’s residency provided an opportunity for the community to witness the creative power of ideas as they evolve and take shape in real time and within one of the country’s premier glass programs.
